Breeding

Blake's Heaven so far has been a family pursuit and has run not for profit, in fact it has cost a lot of money to compete. Balanced against that is the great joy it has given us.
We have maintained a small breeding program.
Pedigrees will be added in time. Also we are in the process of making horse 'profiles'. To view the profiles, click on the purple italic names.

Stallions

Wantley Kaliph was our original stallion but as the drought deepened we decided to geld him. His only progeny was an Arabian pony mare, BH Mystic.

Blake's Heaven Sobranie was our second stallion. He sired Veuve and Venus and is the grandsire of our current stallion, Carousel.

Kaliph’s full brother, Wantley Remaldi, sired Caruso and Harissa.
We kept Caruso as a colt and he sired two colts – Carousel and Caspian – and a filly, Cansona. Tragically Cansona (out of Ali’s Comette, daughter of Ali’s Pride) had to be put down in January 2008 after a paddock accident.

Our current colt is BLAKE'S HEAVEN CAROUSEL. By Blake's Heaven Caruso out of Blake's Heaven Veuve. Registered 5/8th Arabian chestnut colt, included in his pedigree are BH Kaliph's full brother, Wantley Remaldi; BH Dubonnet; BH Carumba (yellow log book mare). BH Sobranie (Brumby-waler) and BH Caruso (yellow log book). He is also closely related to BH Venus(yellow log book).

Carousel epitomises the Blake's Heaven experiment - crossing proven Arabian endurance horses with the true Australian horse. He is short backed, short necked and long legged with very smooth gaits and an outstanding temperament.
Carousel has been raised at Blake's Heaven Jerrawa where he runs with a mare, Starlight Lodge Holly and several geldings. He is currently 14.2 1/2 having just turned 3 yo and should mature 14.3-15hh. Inquiries re services are welcome.

Our home bred horses are:

Blake's Heaven Mystic. Grey. Born 2001. Arabian pony- sold.
Blake's Heaven Veuve. Black Bay. Born 4 November 2002. Yellow log book endurance mare.
Blake's Haven Venus. Light bay. Born November 2002. Yellow log book endurance mare.
Blake's Heaven Caruso. Chestnut. Born 14 July 2003. Now gelded, and a yellow log book endurance horse.Leased to Cathy Banwell and ridden by her son Jeremy Banwell, of Canberra.
Blake's Heaven Angelico. Dark bay, no white.By Bombora's sire Shakir Ibn Rashan (owned by Kim Bolas) and out of Caruso's dam BH Carumba. Angelico gets his name from Angel Elstoft who was present when he was born in August 2006 while the Hasko-Stewarts were at Shahzada, and also from the Renaissance painter "Fra Angelico" as he is a "FRA" (brother) to both Caruso and Bombora. At 3 yo is already over 15.1hh and looks to grow even bigger than his big brother Bombora .
Blake's Heaven Caspian. By BH Caruso out of BH Mystic. Caspian is 3/4 arabian with 1/4 pony. He has a double cross to BH Kaliph/Remaldi as Mystic is by Kaliph and Caruso is by Remaldi (Kaliph's full brother). He is also maturing taller than expected, and at 3 yo is around 14 hh, much taller than his dam. He will be a very tough smaller galloway endurance horse.
Blake's Heaven Carousel (see above).
Blake's Heaven Cansona (DEC). By Caruso out of home bred thoroughbred mare Ali's Comette, Cansona had to be put down just before she turned 13 months old, in January 2008. She was stunning but had a broken shoulder as a result of a paddock accident.
